Sponsor News 2025

Greetings from the HEROES,

We hope this finds you well. In 2015 Hillsdale High School began participating in the most well recognized internationally known robotics organization, First Robotics. From humble beginnings, our small team, the HEORES, has grown and been able to produce a functioning, competitive robot each year since. Though our team remains small, the work we do is big. Our results have improved consistently nearly every year.

Our shop has grown tremendously to meet the needs and demands of these elaborate builds. In 2020, through Hillsdale County Community Foundation Grants, we obtained a CNC router. In 2021, a metal lathe, 2022, a Bridgeport Mill was donated by Hillsdale Terminal.  In 2023 the lumber for half of a practice field was donated by another robotics team (The Livonia Warriors #2832).  Multiple 3D printers have been purchased, and most recently in 2025 a $10,000 grant through the Hillsdale County Community Foundation was awarded for shop upgrades. This grant will allow our shop to be a hub for other small robotics teams in the county, sharing tools, ideas, and working collaboratively.  Clearly, our team has been generously supported by industries who find our program valuable.

Now, we ask you to join us. Our goal is to raise $16,000 for the 2026 season.  We have not actively solicited support for our program since 2019 when we qualified for the World Championships. The HEROES have been able to sustain with consistent generous private donors, funding from the State of Michigan, and Hillsdale Community Schools. When our program began, the State of Michigan had dedicated grant funding to support 100% of robotics competition entry fees ($6300 for two competitions).  In 2025, that percentage fell to 57% and is anticipated to fall further and/ or be eliminated for the 2026 season. The State Championship registration costs at SVSU are $4000. Entry fees for competitions alone, are $10,300 before allowing for expenses to build the robot and or food and lodging for events. Our 2025 budget is linked below. This high quality program is expensive and our team's fiscal responsibility throughout the years and faithful supporters have been essential in its continued success. Please consider partnering with us. â€‹
